CF Medical Equipment

Some of you can probably relate to my situation. Our home was built in 1945 so most of the electric service is 2 prong plugs plus there are few outlets. We currently have an electrician trying to help us out, but over the years there has been so many changes and so many people work on things that its a true nightmare. He keeps saying "this is a hazard". SOOOO besides the normal annoynaces of the 3 prong issues with O2 or the vest. I am wondering if those with homeowners insurance have boosted their coverage or had problems in doing so to cover the medical equipment within the house. We have good coverage for the "average" household, but it makes me wonder given the cost of equipment if I should get something extra etc. Any feedback is appreciated!!

I actually got thinking about this. The antiques in our house require a written appraisal otherwise it would just be replacement cost of a "similiar" piece. Since this equipment isnt "normal" I dont know if I would need extra coverage like christ's engagement ring or our antiques, but I definitely will be asking. So even tho you didnt know for sure, you helped me think and sometimes that is a BIG help LOL!

all of our Jewlery is on an insurance rider, meaning that it's additionally covered against LOSS (not just theft, fire, or other damage), but if I loose it! THat is a bit more $$$ than what we would pay if we didn't have the rider, but it breaks down to about $6 a month, so to me, it's worth it for my wedding ring, engagement ring, Mark's wedding ring, both our necklaces, my earrings from my parents... and a few other things we've acquired over the years.

As far as homeowners ins. for the house and items in it, we upped ours because of a few factors. At the time, we had 4 computers (not all purchased by us) and 3 printers (again, not all purchased buy us, but in our care), Mark's vest, 2 nebulizers, and some other irreplaceable and valuable family heirlooms (sp??), so we choose to up it about $75k, which was about a $2 increase a month. Well worth it to us.

We also got an umbrella policy on our cars and home, for an extra $4 a month, we are covered for an ADDITIONAL 1million in LIABILITY for something involving our cars, or on our property/house.

Hope that helps.

Over here in the UK, we pay an extra premium for anything over £1000 ( $1800), such as the computer. You have the vest? which costs well over that, so to my mind, that would require an extra premium of some sort. Phone them up and ask, but be carefull that they dont just use this as an excuse to get more money from you, do it anon. LOL.
