cf moms with full time jobs

i have a question for all of you who had full time jobs before you gave birth. how long of a maternity leave did you take? i am planning on going back to work after eight weeks of maternity leave. i hope that will be enough time for me. what do you guys think? i would love to be a stay at home mother but until my fiance and i are married it is a MUST that i work so i can have health insurance. otherwise if we were married i would be on his insurance and would be able to stay home. i just hope i stay healthy through the pregnancy and post pregnancy.

Next time I will not take any less than 12 weeks. I took 10 weeks which was nice but it seemed like once we hit 12 weeks everything got alot easier with recovery, breastfeeding, sleep habits etc. I think 8 weeks is good, I woudl NEVER go back at 6 weeks that is when they hit their growth spurt and are wanting to eat constantly. Also, some employers offer 'domestic spouse' priveleges for insurance, you may want to look int this as you would not have to rush marriage to get on his benefits. My husband was on my benefits prior to our marriage under this clause but it is not widely advertisted.

I was entitled to 8 weeks of maternity leave, but only 6 weeks of short term disability for my pregnancy so when the 6 weeks was up, my doctor switched the need for it to my CF. In total I was out of work 4 months collecting new york state disability. I did have to use up my 3 weeks of sick time before the disability kicked in. I agree to check & see if the insurance has a Domestic Partner clause. Some places require a bill in both your names as proof, but at least ask!
