CF ON THE NEWS WITH DIANE SAWYER

Today Diane Sawyer did a clip on CF & interviewed someone (the only other CFer from my area) that I did the Great Strides with. I didnt get to see the news show itself, but I saw the clip on the internet. I am so proud of how well they represented things & Dr. Horowitz from Rochester Medical Center (I think) did a great job in saying how even tho Anne (my friend) has accomplished a lot (school, marriage, a baby) that CF is still very serious. I think they showed the balanced sides! I was really happy to have a name like Diane Sawyer connected with the story!

I thought it was pretty balances although I would have liked them to talk more about how CF can get worse after pregnancy etc. I know not for everyone but ya know. Otherwise I LOVE to see CF out there so more people know what it is etc. It did bring a tear to my eye cause you can see the pain in her voice and eyes when she talked about her future being unknown and most likely the CF getting worse. I have had to deal with that as I have been getting older and it is tough!!! But we are all tough and brave!

Melissa,

You know Anne Governor? Anne and I met a couple years before she was married and she wanted to know about my sister and her pregnancies. We were talking via email, not knowing where we lived, and finally I said upstate NY, she said "me too". Then we said " near Rochester", she said "me too" Then I said,
"in Webster", she said "me too". We nearly fell over. Here we could of been around the world from one another.

Do you go to Ann McMullen and Rob Horowitz?

I dont know Dr. Horowitz personally, but Anne was born/raised near me. She moved to Rochester for school & her hubby. We did a Great Strides one time after she had moved there, but before she was actually married to Geoff. My Mom/Dad/I met her family right after she was diagnosed. We didnt talk for year after that tho. I ended up moving next to her Sisters bro in law & thats how we got reunited, but I am sad to say I havent been good about keeping in touch. I keep tabs on her, Geoff & the baby thru family tho!

My love to her!

BTW I am downstate & go to NYC for my CF!

thanks for posting that Mel.

She seems sweet, and what a cute baby! She really gave me hope-to actually see a woman with cf on the news having a baby. Very encouraging story.
They said that it is still very risky to have children so I think it was balanced.
