CF related???

I have xtremely dry skin and i have always had this problem. i was just wondering if this could be CF related.

It could very well be. It can be associated with meds or even slight dehydration. Remember that all of our bodies (even parts we dont think of) go thru a lot between the CF itself & what we do to maintain our health. Aint it grand!

How are your Vitamin E levels? Are you on ADEKs...
definitely could be CF related if you body is deprived of Vitamin E (a fat soluable vitamin)

Reece also has VERY dry skin. Even his face is affected. The last time he was in the hosptial the nurses gave him a cream called Eurcin (sp) It helped ALOT!!! I always wondered that too.

We use Eucerin too. Also Aquaphor, its made but Eucerin, but its a little more like vaseline. Work great! my kids get dehydrated really easily- I can always tell by looking at their chapped lips.

My son has very dry skin too, although it does improve some in the summer. His fingertips along with his lips peel alot.

Does your doctors have you take Vit E. My son's doc has always had him take Vit E and 2 multi vit a day. I'm just courious what vit everyone else takes. He doesn't have that dry of skin - except hands in the winter. Which is surprising cause his dads family has really dry skin.

Before ADEK vitamins were developed I took a regular multi vitamin & a seperate Vitamin E of 400 units or whatever the measurements were. My dry skin is my hands. I know my Dad had really dry hands so bad that they would crack.

I have the opposite problem. I have real oily skin. A little while after i'm out of the shower it looks like I rubbed crisco on my face. When i'm out at bars and stuff whenever I go to the bathroom I get a paper towel and wipe off my face. The rest of my body isn't that bad, just my face.

Reece also has peeling finger tips & toes???!!!! (skin) He has clubbed fingers also & toes. He has a terrible habit of picking his chapped lips too!!! He takes vitamax 2x daily (1ml) Also he looks like a prune after just 5 min in the tub. Always wondered if this had anything to do w/ CF???!!!!

I have heard dry skin and asthma goes hand in hand, so it would stand to reason that it would with cf too....jmo

I get really dry skin as well. My doc has prescribed me Ratio-Ectosone Cream, or also known as Betamethasone. I just put a really thin layer on the affected area and it goes away.
