CF Telethon

Just wanted to share that a local tv station in New Bern, NC held their 29th Annual CF Telethon (w/ CF Foundation). It is the only one of its kind here in NC. I went there, gave an interview and later sung. Anyway, their "final" total for the night before they went off the air (it was on from noon to midnight) was $391,326! They were still taking pledges as they went off the air, so I'm sure it will be a little higher. This telethon has raised over 6 million in the past 29yrs, which isnt bad since the station is local and doesnt cover all of NC (or Eastern NC for that matter). Anyway, just wanted to share that.

That is wonderful!

Thought I would share that I use to live in Cherry Point, NC. Use to fly into New Bern all of the time. I have not been there in about 12 years, but I remember it is beautiful. Coming from the desert, it was so cool to see all of the trees.

That is wonderful Danyell. Singing That is incredible. What song did you sing? If you need a CF song let me know. I have to make a copy first as I gave out all my copies but it is called a CF Ray of Hope. I wrote part of the song just the first paragraph.

I sang "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" by LeAnn Rimes. It's a country song, kinda sad...its about loosing someone. But that's not why I chose it. I picked the song because it was pretty simple to sing, even if I had a bad breathing day. In the car on the way when I was singing it, I was getting choked up, but I did fine while performing....no crying, no choking up and most of all, no coughing. It will be another year before it is time to do it again. Thanks for the offer and I'll keep that in mind.

Blindhearted,

Are there other CF telethons? That's the first I've heard of! Is there a place on the web that will show upcoming events? How can I participate?

Thanks!

Randford,

The telethon is held on one of our local news stations by our local Jaycess (volunteers) and the CF Foundation. Unfortunately there isnt a website about it. It is held once a year, usually the 2nd weekend in August in New Bern, NC. I really dont know what to tell you about participating, they contacted me since I was up there a few years in a row. I know that I couldnt go inside until the CFer presently inside had left and as soon as I finished I had to leave the building so another CF family could come in. They try to keep CFers separate due to cross-contamination and if you have ever culture B. Cepacia then you are not allowed to go at all...since it is a CFF event. They dont start organizing it until June or July. Where are u located Randford? I can try to give you contact information when it comes around next year, just remind me.
