I will gladly post the information that I have.
St. Alexius Medical Hospital approached the Chicago CF care specialist about helping develop a foundation that would assist with direct need of patients. The outcome is CFI (Cystic Fibrosis Institute). The director the foundation is Melinda Bicchinella, a former nurse at Children's memorial hospital that has been very active with patients and families with CF for many years.
The first annual education retreat is being held at the Stonegate Conference Center. This is located at 2401 Higins Road, Hoffman Estates. Mindy would gladly give you more information on the conference and the CFI. Her number is 866-269-1105. It will be held on Feburary 18th. You do need to RSVP with Mindy at the institute. Registration begins a 8:30 am
As far as person with CF attending. The CFI follow the same guide lines as those seen at Great Strides and other outdoor events. They ask that if person with CF attend that they do not culture B. Cepacia.
I do have some flyers about the institute if you would like me to mail some out to you. Send me your email. If you would rather send me your email privately, send to mmohr@sprovieris.com. I can mail or fax the information I have or you can contact Mindy for information.
the institute has been actively working on getting Illinois a state to mandate Cf newborn testing.
Let me know if there are any other questions
Personally, I looking forward and very excited to the the retreat
