cfrd/cf and alcohol.

I was also eating a ton of sausage rolls and chocolate cookies at the time, so the balance of these sugars and then the lack of sugars with the alcohol, may be why my sugars were just right! Hmmmmmmm <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

i drink beer regularly and i have never noticed any effect on my blood sugars one way or the other. drinking in moderation is always a good idea, especially if you don't weigh that much or drink that often. it's also good to have food in your stomach because it helps the alcohol to absorb slower into your system.

i do worry about long-term health risks, but not so much because of CF. i am prepared that there may come a day when i no longer should drink or when i no longer want to drink. in the meantime, i enjoy it.

i didnt know it lowered your sugars! weird! even if you dont do insulin to cover for it? werid... well i always take a body shot of frosting before i go any sports and stuff, so i can imagine that i'd be fine finding enough sugar to keep em' up.

i dont have cfrd, but my sugars do drop on a regular basis if i dont take care to eat enough protein early in the day, and to eat frequently. that being said, i have been known to drink heavily on occasion (only in countries where it's legal and w/parental consent, of course!) and i have had no problems at all. but i'd be careful anyway, i know my docs dont like it when i drink at all.

I would never take insulin if I'm drinking hard liqour or wine. It would cause my sugars to drop drastically!
