Wait a sec.... (Confused blond here, scratching head) CaliSally, does CFRD turn into Type 1? I thought Type 1 had to do with antibodies rather than lack of insulin production. Or are you just one of the unique folks who has Type 1 and CF?

cfsucks - I believe that all cystics with pancreatic insufficiency will develop CFRD, just a matter of time. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> Right now the statistic are:

"The prevalence of CFRD increases with age
* 14% of CF patients > 13 years old
* 25% of CF patients 35-44 years old
* approximately 43% of Cystics > 30 years old"

I have more data/info/statistics buried in my blog at saltyandsweet.org

When I was first diagnosed way back when, it was considered type 1 because I was taking insulin. Somewhere along the line when I was an adult, my clinic said you have CFRD. And then I heard that CFRD was a combination of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Who knows... diabetes is very complicated, and varies from person to person.
