CFRD

I was diagnosed with CFRD June 2006. I work in a warehouse making carparts for Toyota and GM, it's very dusty. My question is this...Anyone else who has CFRD do they notice a drop in thier blood sugars when they get too hot? I mean in this hot weather and working in a warehouse I tend to get hotter faster and in return my sugars drop. The docs out here don't seem to realize that I can't stop what I am doing and sit for 15 mins cause I do assembly line work. Does anyone else with CFRD have this prob when they are working and if so what do you do to fix ur sugars?

Exertion will cause lower blood sugars. You should talk to your doc about lowering your insulin/diab.meds since this is an everyday exertion. Also, you should increase your snacking to prevent the drop...but I understand your work issues...so the decrease in meds would probably be the better answer.. But you need to tell your dr's so they can help you get the right levels.

Causes for an increase in blood sugar levels:
*eatting too much
*stress
*not enough exercise
*illness
*not enough insulin/meds

Causes for a decrease in blood sugar levels:
*not eatting enough
*too much insulin/diab meds
*over exertion

You and your doctor need to discuss your daily routine with these issues in mind to find the dosing that works best for you. If you are on insulin, getting on The Pump would probably be a good idea...then you just take your insulin when you eat and base it on how many carbs you are eatting.

Also, it's important to eat a balanced meal, to help blood sugars from dropping, they stay more level.
