This is my first time attending the CFRI conference and I have to say that I am SO glad I've attended. I was a little apprehensive last night when the first speaker started talking using medical termonology and completely lost me-I really thought I had gotten in over my head. However, all the subsequent presentations have been absolutely amazing!
I had the honor and opportunity to be a member of a panel of "CF adults with children" and answering questions about our decision to have children, financial aspects, life expectancy issues and so on. There were parents with CF who had adopted children, a couple who choose to use donor sperm, someone who used a surrogate, Tara (from this site) who did IVF and myself. It was great!
Then we split up into "support groups" of sorts and that was interesting. I was rather, well, I didn't really know what to expect or what to talk about but it ended up being a really good time to just share things that only other people who have a partner/spouse with CF would understand. Very theraputic for me.
I just wanted to share, as I am really impressed with this conference.
