CHEST AND BREATHING PAIN

Saturday I woke up with a cold. Running nose, slight cough, body aches. No big deal, still went to work and everything.

Well, I have not been getting better. I woke up right now with pretty bad pain in my chest when I breathe. Cough is now quite juicy. I have used Courtney nebulizer but the pain is still pretty bad. Coughing is TERRIBLY painful, and I feel quite out of breath. No fever at all.

I can't figure out why there would be so much pain? I fugured you guys would probably be able to help!

Thanks

EDITED TO ADD: When I cough, I cough up this VERY nasty tasting stuff!?!

Hi Seana, wish I could give you the answer that you are looking for but I dont know ,It could be a pulled muscle in your chest, with all the coughing, thats giving you pain. When I was younger and playing football, Ipulled the muscle on my chest, it covers right round to the back, well I just collapsed, I thought my lungs had collapsed, I could barely breath, let alone move. Other than that cant help you that much

Hi Seanna,

USUALLY chest pain when you breathe in ONLY is not an emergency...usually it is a sign of GERD( Gastric reflux) and the fact that you are coughing up stuff could be gastric juices. I have had gerd a few times and it was HELL!!!! The chest pain was unbearable...are you burping alot?? I did and that is another clear sign of gerd. Chest paid should always be taken seriously...so if in doubt go to the ER immediately. If your chest pain spreds down your arm or neck call 911. But honestly it sounds like GERD to me. Take 2-4 gaviscon tablets with a glass of water and keep your upper body elevated...( sit up not lie down). You canalways go to your nearest pharmacy and tell the pharmacist your symptoms and they can suggest something over the counter.
