Hi Ashmomo,

I was born and raised in Michigan (not living there now), but I loved having CSHCS. And yes, it's only for Michigan residents only. They also covered all my copays that my primary insurance didn't cover. When I moved out of state I tried getting aid again, but I don't qualify. I remember a few years back when the governor was trying to get rid of CSHCS for all adults with CF, but luckily it didn't go through. From what I understand, all CF patients do qualify for CSHCS but you have to pay a yearly fee based on your income, so some might opt to not use it for that reason.

I am also in Michigan and am GREATFUL for this coverage. In the year since Logan's diagnosis he has been admitted twice at $40,000.00 a pop. I would have paid $1500.00-$3000.00 out of pocket each time but CSHCS covered what my insurance didn't. Not to mention the Rx co-pays each month..
I feel horrible reading posts where people arent covered and are struggling to pay their medical bills. Every state should have a program like this! Michigan has TONS of other problems right now my in my eyes this is one thing they are doing right
