Must be Scotland that is behind when it comes to the numbers, I take it if you are used to seeing it expressed as a 3 digit number, then whatever the norm is in that range just double it and thats my figure.

It makes sense about not being able to process the fats, but my son is pancreatic sufficient, and I had this in mind for when he is older.

Who wants to take another drug, healthy eating to me is the way to go and Ender its my son who has CF so I couldent help you there on the lung question .

I get blood work done every few months for my endocrine appointments. I have had that blood work come back showing high cholesterol once. The very next time around it was within normal range though. Now my doc comments on the fact that my cholesterol is at a very good level when I have blood work done so I am assuming that is good - not to low not to high.

I will also mention that when my cholesterol was slightly elevated I had been been eating ALOT of fast food around that time. Practically 2 meals a day eating out or something along those lines. I saw the numbers and just cut my fast food intake down drastically and things went back to normal.

i have often wondered if CFers can have high cholesterol. To my knowledge I've never been tested, unless it is part of your yearly bloodwork and they've never said anything to me. Is it something I should ask to get checked?

Danyell, often your OBGYN tracks cholestrol...not sure why but you might want to check those records as well as your cf.

Cholesterol issues are extremely rare with CF patients. Parly because we don't live that long and cholesterol issues generall occure in the later years and partially because of our lack of absorption.

Craig,

I too have had a recent check up and they said my cholesterolwas a bit high as well. Doc said to cut back on all the food I enjoy and get some excersise. I thought you'd be interested to know that I'm playing indoor soccer (football) this winter for the excersise.

Anyway, good luck (I know it's tough to give up sweets).
