chronic bloody nose?

Hi-
I should clarify..they aren't really nose <b>bleeds</b>. But every single time I blow my nose, and it's ONLY in the left nostril, a solid chunk of mucus mixed with a lot of really dark blood comes out, (sorry tmi) then after that plug-like thing is gone, it bleeds freely a little bit. my dr said my left nostril was a little swollen, so she gave me this saline gel. I've been using it, it just hasn't done much at all.

Do you think it's dry air? Because I had it in summer too..
otherwise, i can still breathe throug my nose. it isn't really causing any problems! just very gross and annoying, and probably leading to something i should know. any experience with this sort of thing?!?!?

Something you might see only as a reaction to dry air, allergens, etc would most likely be coming out of both nostrils, I'd think.

Have you tried the sinus rinses vs. just the gel you use in your nostrils? Have you had any known sinus issues to date?

The Neil-Med sinus rinses 2x a day or more are the biggest relief. And if the indoor temp is too dry, or I'm in a dry locale, it's worse. I normally run a cool-mist humidifier in the house during the winter to help with this.
