Hey all.
I just wanted to share this with you guys. When I was first diagnosed with cfrd, my mom told me that cinnamon can help regulate blood sugar. I didn't really think much of it at the time. Well, one night I came home from work starving...we didn't have a whole lot in the house so I made some oatmeal and put A TON of cinnamon in it because we were out of brown sugar. When I was done I was still hungry so I made some toast with a little bit of cinnamon on it too. Later that night, after all my treatments were done and I was getting to bed, my sugar dropped a little low. I know I didn't take too much insulin with what I ate after work and my Lantus wasn't the reason for the low blood sugar. I decided to look up the effects of cinnamon on blood sugar and I read that cinnamon boosts insulin and aids in lowering blood sugar...how cool! lol
I posted a link to one of the sites I found about it...it also talks about general health benefits from cinnamon too. Hope you enjoy it and find it as interesting as I did.
