I don't think azli (the inhaled form of aztreonam) was approved by the FDA. Not sure where they are with the follow-up necessary to get it passed. Urgh.
As for cipro... I was on it with my IV meds and now that we've stopped my IV abx, I'm only on cipro 750 2X per day for another week or so. I used to be resistant to it, so I wasn't ever placed on it (with or without other meds), but now that I am, they feel confident in me staying on it without the other abx. I don't know that I'd make a habit of staying on any abx as maintenance unless its a last resort, as I'd be afriad of becoming resistant, but that's just my feeling. Your case could warrant something completely different.
Oh, and it bears mentioning that I initially became resistant to cipro cause I was on it A LOT as a kiddo. Whenever a cold moved into my chest, cipro was what they went for cause I was sensitive to it. I'm pretty sure they used it by itself then. I was probably on it a couple times a year or maybe a bit less. Not sure that made me more resistant cause it was by itself or if it was just from using it so often.
Good luck with your treatment!
