alright so I just read this and started crying.....I didn't realize this to be part of CF. My son was dx'd last year he's 3, and I just noticed his thumbnail to be weirdly shaped just the other day. Is there something we didn't do right? Did we miss something? Why does this happen just all of a sudden?

I'm not usually this dramatic.....well sometimes!

Don't freak - it's okay. It may not even be clubbing- he may have even just hurt the nail bed or something if it's just one funny shaped nail, and it's just growing out/growing funny. Just mention it to his dr next time, and see what he says. I think alot cfers have it .

No, I don't think there is anything you can do about it except just keep on doing his stuff like you're supposed to.

I have slight clubbing of my fingers and toes- but I was born with it . I have my (paternal) grandmother's hands and feet(also long and skinny-lol). My dad's also look like mine. I didn't have any lung problems (except one bout of bronchitis when I was 13) until I was 16, PFTs in the 100's. It used to drive me nuts when a new doctor would look at my fingers and toes and say "mild clubbing". I would always say "But it's not from my cf! It's my grandmother!"

I have a friend who's 4 year old son has had clubbing for at least a year and has had no lung involvement as of yet. Although my son's doctor always looks for clubbing, I've heard different views regarding clubbing. Try not to worry (although, I know that's hard!
