Cough with a bark at the end

My usual productive cough has a strange bark at the end. It's like the first 50% of the cough is normal. Airways open, mucus coming up, then something happens in the right side of my lungs (maybe the airways closing up) and only a bark, hoarse sound comes out. Has anyone experienced this or something similiar with their cough?

The obvious 'barking' cough that many know of is whooping cough which is on the rise. But you've probably been exposed to it already as a child-maybe. I'm not even sure if its considered the same virus in adults.
I've had something like a bark in my cough in the past-but I don't think it was as bad as yours is sounding by your description.
Sounds like it could be asthmatic though.
Wouldn't wait on this one. Call the clinic to see what they think.
How long have you had this...

I get the bark, I know exactly to what you are referring. For me it is an asthma/allergy issue. I have never gotten the asthma attack issues but if I go to a lower level of advair I get my bark back LOL--not all time but it seems it's like when something is out (allergens etc).

Barking coughs are usually associated with Croup.
