coughing after bronch

Josh had his bronch on Wednesday and since he has been coughing like crazy. I figure its normal so he can clear any fluid or mucus left over. Yesterday his cough sounded tight and he coughed up a little blood (about a teaspoon). He woke up a few times coughing during the night.

We didn't have him do his vest after he had the blood, but I think he needs it today. For those of you who have had bronchs- does this sound normal to you?

Jane,

I had one bronch done when I was his age, and I actually puked up nothing but mucus right after the procedure. The bronch loosened everything, and my cough was so hard that it all came up and out. I didn't cough up any blood, though.

I think what he is experiencing is normal post-bronch. I would also encourage him to try and cough up as much as he feels he can. I don't see harm in using the Vest either.

Double check with your doctor but 1 teaspoon really doesn't sound like too much to me to stop Vest therapy.

Jane, when Chey had hers last week...she coughed like crazy for a few days and then her cough was back to her "normal", if there is such a thing in the C/F world.

I remember when I had my bronch I threw up a bunch of mucus and "old" blood...after that I didnt cough much!!! IMO maybe stopping the vest for a day after seeing blood come up would be a good then have him start it up again...thats what my doctor has me do to build a clot...
