coughing up what looks like blue lint

I coughed up a blue fuzzy and blew one out of my nose several years ago. Turns out it was apsergillus, a type of mold. I'm glad you already read my post and found it helpful.

Now that I have ongoing treatment for ABPA, I don't cough up the mold spores any longer.

Aspergillus is very difficult to eradicate, particularly if Kj is already at the point of coughing up the fully grown blue stuff.

ABPA only affects my PFTs when it's flaring up. Sporanox helps keep it under control enough that my PFTs aren't adversely affected. However, I'm on LOTS of medications, all of which must work together to keep ABPA under control. Once I had cultured it, my doc increased my Advair (a steroid) dose to the 500/50 diskus. I was also prescribed Singulair, which is an asthma med. Although neither of those meds are specific for treating Aspergilliosis, they help control my asthma, which is the inflammatory response to this nasty fungus.

It's manageable and doesn't make a person feel like poo on a regular basis. It's mostly the inflammation that is problematic.

I hope it goes well with the doc.
