Cracked rib or rib out of place from coughing

In January, I was coughing really hard and felt/heard something pop/crack. I had instant severe pain to where I could barely stand, needed help walking, couldn't bend, unable to keep from coughing though. We went immediately to the emergency room. They told me it was either a rib out of place or a cracked rib, but didn't know for sure since I was 7 months pregnant and couldn't be X-rayed. Anyway, they gave me Demoral immediately and a prescrip for Oxycodon. The next day I drove for three hours and checked into the hospital for lung issues.

So, the point is that my rib still feels really sore sometimes when I'm coughing and other times when I wake up. I guess I must be sleeping on it in a certain position.

Has anyone else had a cracked rib or rib out of place from coughing? Does the pain ever completely go away? Am I more liable to have this happen again now? Or is this more likely from my pregnancy?

Maybe you have displaced an intercostle muscle (sp), this is the muscle that holds the ribs together. Think of the meat on a rack of ribs, well thats the intercostle muscle, its almost impossible to fix, if you squeeze one out. This happened to me when I was 16 when I was playing rugby, it gave me pain for so long, and then intermitent pain from then until now, and i'm 42 this week.
