Is she complaining because she is constipated? Has her poop become too hard? Is there no difference between before/after starting them? Sometimes people need to adjust the dosage & even change the type of enzymes. If she is constipated she might be on too high of a dose. If she is very loose & oily stools then they are not working properly. The ??? then lies if she needs a change in dose or another enzyme. Contact the doctor.....you dont want her associating pain with eating etc. Good Luck!
Well before she was on the creon, she was on the viokase powder & with that her poops were still soft form but dry...
now with the creon, theyve been soft form but oily. not AS BAD as before she was on any meds, but still.
shes never been constipated (knock on wood)
I called the doctor, he said with the creon, the pains could be because shes either getting too much or not enough & told me how to play with the dosages.
Oily is not good.....I dont see it as a need to decrease. If anything its sounds like an increase is needed. The problem is you dont want to go to fast & her end up constipated. Try increasing until the oil decreases, but it doesnt become so dry its hard & difficult to pass. I am not sure Creon works the same as Ultrase which is what I take, but sometimes if I am eating something really fatty I have to increase my enzymes for that meal or even break up the dose thruout the meal. Fortunately it doesnt happen often, but I thought I would mention it so once you get the rite dose for your child that this doesnt surprise you!
