cystic acne

Hi,

There was a similar post about this several months ago - maybe you could search for it and find some more answers.

Anyhow, I developed cystic acne around the age of 20 and basically just took a low dose of antibiotics every day to keep it at bay. I came off the med when I got pregnant last year and I have not needed any more treatment for it. I think I may still have it very mildly but not enough to take anything.

From what I understand about it is it's brought on by stress, sweating, hormones, touching of the face, etc. It is some nasty stuff I must say!

I don't think it has anything to do with CF though.

I would also look into the Accutane treatment as it's sort of a controversial medication. Talk to his CF doctor and make sure it's okay to take (if you haven't done that already).

I've had similar problems. Accutane sucks, I'd take him off it right away. Ask your doc for Differin, it works really well and is a topical gel.

I would seriously doubt it has anything to do with cf at all. What about all the healthy people without cf who get cystic acne? whats their excuse for having it?
So far the best thing i know of for Acne, is Minocycline .... for cf and non cf acne sufferers.
