Dan's sick.

Dan is sick again. He was just in the hospital in July. I was hoping that it would be awhile before he would have to go in again. Sometimes I think he never gets totally well. Just that the antibodics keeps the bugs at bay while he's on it and when he comes off they comeback with a vengence.

One thing that bothers me is his cough sounds almost watery. Like he's going to drown in it. Do any of you get this? He says when he has a carb full meal it happens, but only when he's sick like this.

I'm also a little nervous because he's ready to move to an adult CF doc. We have had the same one for 19 years.

All in all, I think he will be in the hospital by the end of the week.

I hope Dan feels better soon... I don't know about the carb thing, I have thought about it and I now when I eat carbs, especially when not feeling well, I feel bloated and yukky, but I don't have CF, only a carrier. What would a typical meal be like for Dan? Is he getting enough protein and fluids?

Please update me, take care,
Gina

When I eat acidic stuff it makes my cough rougher and my lungs more inflamed. I don't think antibiotics really make you well. I think aggressive nutrition makes you well.

Good luck with this.

I'm sorry to hear that Dan is feeling sick again, I hope this round of iv's does wonders for him. I too get watery mucus sometimes, especially now that i started using the hypertonic saline. I have never noticed it after a high carb meal though....
Going to a new Dr. can be difficult ( i myself hate change) But it can also be a great change. Different Dr.s have different ideas and some are more aggressive than others. You def. want a cf Dr. that treats the cf aggressively. I hope Dan feels better soon
