DEXA scan

my bone density in my 30's was normal. now that I am 40 the most recent dexa showed osteopenia in the spine. i have had severe vitamin deficiencies lately.

Mine hasn't been normal since I was a teenager. I had one for my transplant evaluation and that's when I was told that I have osteoporosis. Since I now also take Prednisone every day, it is required that I have a DEXA scan every year. I'm also on calcium every day and 50,000 units of vitamin D two times a week.

Since I now also take Prednisone every day, it is required that I have a DEXA scan every year. I'm also on calcium every day and 50,000 units of vitamin D two times a week.

Patti they don't have you on anything else like Forteo, Fosamax, Boniva, Actonel, Reclast?

That's very surprising that they're not treating your osteoperosis <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Patti they don't have you on anything else like Forteo, Fosamax, Boniva, Actonel, Reclast?

That's very surprising that they're not treating your osteoperosis <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

I have been in the osteopenia range...almost osteoporosis now for about 4 years. Just over the last few months, I have started on Boniva and I also take extra Vitamin D.
