Diabetes Question

My sugars normally run low, only very occasional highs. The last two days mid morning I end up feeling goofy (jittery). I check my sugars and they are 160 yesterday and 179 today. I ate the same thing for breakfast that I normally do. The only possible change is a different mid morning snack. By lunch time my sugars are back in the normal range. Did I just take my blood sugar too soon (during a normal high)???

The rest of yesterday my sugars were fine. I am on Metformin and up until now my sugars have been great (less highs and more controlled lows). I thought we had things all figured out and now....they seem all mess up again.

I am not on insulin lately... since starting Metformin.

One other question: Do you find stress raises your sugars??

So frustrating. I am waiting for a response from my endo doctor.

Stress can raise your sugars, as well as if you are beginning to fight something. When you tested, how long had it been since you had eaten?

What numbers are consider your "normal" range?

Was the mid morning snack prior to the bg read? Maybe the snack itself was something with high fructose corn syrup? I know those sorts of snacks can always make me jittery. And I do bounce up and then bounce back down more quickly when I eat them. So I have to be careful not to... although that is not always possible and I do have my weak moments <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">
Sounds like a great thing, not having to take insulin anymore. Has the Metformin reduced the number of lows you have? I seem to get them no matter how careful I count my carbs.

My BSL normally only spikes when I am getting sick, sometimes it's the first sign something's wrong, I get highs before I even feel it in my chest.
If everything is the same diet and med wise I'd be on the lookout for infections instead.
