scary!! they are talking about it now on NBC nightly news. They said he knew he had TB when he was traveling and was advised not to travel, it was a resistant form but he may not have known how resistant it was. I hope he didnt spread it to anyone, but it will be a amazing if he didnt since he was so close to ppl in the plane.

Calm down, people.

The likelihood of spreading the infection was VERY TINY, but since health officials couldn't say it was NO RISK, they have to quarantine. It's very possible that no one was infected by the passenger in question.

I'd hardly call this "scary" because there are much worse things out there that we're exposed to on a regular basis w/o even knowing about it. This particular incident has to be reported because it's what is known as a "significant" (i.e. it can cause health problems in certain populations.) It's just a formality. News media are blowing it out of proportion (as usual.)

The news media wouldn't blow it out of proportion if it didn't increase their ratings!!
One of the reasons why I sometimes DON'T like the news...esp. in Japan, where they discuss the same thing over and over and over and over (The Energizer...)

Though this sounds contradictory to the incident where they kicked that poor school girl off the flight from her coughing about a month ago or so!!

That is what I meant by "scary"...the fact that we could easily be exposed to something that could be so dangerous and never even know it, even when someone knows they could be putting ppl at risk. Not "scary" as in "OMG this is terrifying outbreak".

Here's the other story I was thinking of- different guy, I guess:
