What I was wondering is if there are any of you who get by on disability alone without needing medicaid to help cover costs. What I am mostly concerned about are prescription costs, while part D is decent, there are some gaps in coverage after it has payed so much. If anyone has any experience with working while on disability and whether or not that is sufficient insurance alone would they please email me or post in this thread. Thanks a ton Jenn email:menaismirage@yahoo.com

Jenn,

You can work while on disability but can only earn a certain amount. If you are intersted, I can search some old threads where we went into this extensively about how much you can earn and still get your disability benefits.

Let me know if you are interested

I am on disability and my case manger lady person and I discussed
my work ability. In Montana for us here, I am able to work
25-30 hours a week at minium wage ( 5.25 $) per hour If I
make more per hour I can only work 20-25 hours a week.

Beth Sufian is a attorney for CF disability cases and has Cf herself. She runs a hotline where you can ask questions. I do not have the number off hand but you can google her and get to her website and call. You can also go to the CF Roundtable and her information is there too and you can call her and ask disability questions, I believe.

Good Luck!

You may or may not know this, but Medicare Part B covers most, if not all of your nebulized medications and also some of the diabetic supplies as long as your doctor writes a prescription for the diabetic supplies & you get them from a pharmacist as opposed to over the counter.

Thank you for all the replies, I feel better knowing this looks like a "doable" thing. My situation will be changing in the future and I need to be able to live independently. I will be looking into a few things you all have mentioned. Jenn

Medicare Part B does cover a portion of inhaled meds. I have to pay $287 plus some change for my Pulmozyme. I'm applying with the Genentech Endowment fund for help with the copay. It's a struggle to make ends meet with meds, i'm getting ready to start my donut hole with Part D.
