Disinfecting your E-flow

After you clean the parts as instructed by the manufacturer, how do you sterilize the parts? The head stays soaking in alcohol so disinfecting is covered for that part. But what about the others? It says to do it as often as your healthcare provider recommends. As a general rule, I only inhale from neb parts that are sterilized since simply washing in tap water can leave pseudo. aero. on the them. So I'm looking for something I can do after each treatment that hopefully won't add a lot of time the the regimin. I'd prefer not to have to purchase the disinfecting agent they suggest...Control III or something like that. Seems unnatural for my lungs, bad for the environment and an extra expense. Plus what is it?

I soak it in non-antibacterial soap and water...but some on here may have better ideas. I just do it the way they told me to, and I have had it for almost two years and had no problems. I have less psuedo now than before...I boil it a few times a week.

This is one of those topics that I have a lot of opinions on! I agree with you and don't really trust anything that is just rinsed in tap water. Even if you use the Control III which is some sort of a disinfecting solution, the instructions on the Contol III say to rinse with tap water when you're done!! Huh??

Here is what I have been doing, and it seems to be really working for me. I bought a plastic pot (that is sold to be used as a vegetable steamer)... so it has a pot bottom, and a strainer thing that fits inside, and has a top so that the steam stays inside. I microwave my regular nebs in it (pari, side stream) along with the e-flow neb parts for 10 minutes. I take it out, lift the strainer out of the pot, shake the excess water off, and I'll put the strainer with the nebs in it back in the microwave for a minute to dry off a bit. Then just let them finish air drying! It's really pretty simple.
