Do certain places make your lungs feel weird?

Heyo. I was wondering if anyone here notices differences in breathing and feel of their lungs in certain houses. My boyfriend recently moved into an apartment with his dad, new place just built a few years ago, not lived in before, no smokers in residence. he moved there just a week ago, and thus I have been spending time there. I noticed right away that my lungs didn't feel "right" in the house, and as I spent more time there, it's become cummulative and is almost impossible to stay over without my chest feeling tight and SOB. Anybody else experienced this? Any ideas as to what could be causing me to feel so bad in this house? My only thought is the carpet. I don't think it's dust levels, because wearing a mask doesn't help a whole lot. there aren't any plants in the house, so it wouldn't be pollen or allergies to my knowlegde. Just curious and I really want to figure this out. Don't know how to spend time with someone when you can't be in their house!

Thanks in advance.

Probably the carpet especially if it is new. Maybe the air ducts. I wish you the best but take care of your health.

cat dander stays around for 3 years.

dust mites hide everywhere.

dust caries bacteria and viruses.

so ya, follow your great instincts. something is probably up at that house. the environment can have a huge effect on your lungs.

You might be having an allergy to the new carpet or the paint (environmental allergies). I have allergies to everything, so even walking in a book store makes my nose start running!

Allergies can bring on asthma, and that could be what you are feeling. Do you use an inhaler of any kind. This all may be something to talk w/ the dr about !?!?!

For me I have with my breathing sometimes when I am at Kurt's house. I find that more often than not when I am having breathing issues at someone elses house it is due to the temperature in the house. Sometimes if they have dogs that are heavy shedders I have issues - which I never thought of being connected to an allergy (but it is - I found out in November I have a mild dog allergy).

Like I said though for me it is the temperature. My mom keeps our house temp between 65-72 degrees. Anything over 75 degrees in a house I start to have difficulties breathing. I feel tight and get really short of breath. When I am able to cool down I start feeling better almost immediately, but it takes me getting cooled off before I notice a change.

Hope things start to get better. Also maybe it is a smell/scent at the house, being that it is newer. Not that the smells are the same but when Kurt and I first started dating his dad had just gotten a new car and EVERY time I rode in that car for about the first 6-10 months we were together I would get ill. The smell would make me sick and nauseous and I would have problems with everything physically not just breathing.

Take Care,
Lindsey

Believe it or not my church always makes my lungs go bonkers.. It always has... I have been going there for over 10 years now. Mostly it used to be in the downstairs daycare center part but also in the main building as well. I always cough so much more then usual when I am in church.. Odd I know.. Also any house that is not very well kept and you can hear me audible wheeze.

Yes I have the same problem at other people's houses. Not sure why, could be pets, could be the temperture. I also get claustrophobic and hot and SOB when lots of people are in a room.
