I decided to try an a/d back in october. After a week on it I couldn't stay awake and was constantly run down. It also caused a few other side effects.
I don't think I'm a good one for antidepressants anyway. My bouts with depression are not caused by something an a/d would help with. Nowadays I have a few different ways to deal with things<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif" border="0">

I was the same way with mine. It took about 6 weeks for me to get used the drug and to acctually feel "normal". My mom commented that I looked sedated and I pretty much was. I could function, just not as much as I had before I began them. My dr told me that it takes between 4-6 for the body to adjust. As far as the sleep and run down I would give it time to work through your system. But if you are to the point that you CAN NOT function at all right away that is different. Then I would suggest searching for a new one.

I will shout it from the rooftops... I LOVE MY ZOLOFT!!!
I take it for several reasons:
1) anxiety which untreated used to lead to anxious depression
2) fainting spells (syncope) caused by sudden drops in blood pressure. zoloft acts on the nervous system somehow to prevent the drops.
I've been taking it for years and hope to wean off it someday. Not now of course, since my soulmate just died and all...
