does lack of sleep really affect us?

Sleep has a direct affect on my health (and attitude toward life).

My immune system is more fragile if I don't get enough sleep. I have less interest in doing "treatments" if I am tired (do them any way lately). Hubby is able to help me during the night with my kiddo more now... nightmares and needing a drink of water. I just roll over and go back to sleep... and let them figure it out.

I have been doing a lot of of sleeping in during cold and flu season (more than 8 hours).

Sleep is one of the biggest ones for me, too. I need at least 9 hours to be at my best, but I have been able to adjust to 8 since buying the "white noise" sound machine to cover my dh's snoring, lol. When I'm sick, I need much more. That is one of the biggest factors for me, and one of the reasons I do better with home IVs, since I am a light sleeper on top of all the usual hospital sleep interuptions...

Starting at the beginning of January and lasting for about 7 weeks I had horrile insomnia!!! I felt aweful! I thought for sure that I would get sick just from being so worn out, an sure enough now I am getting over a sinus infection. I am sleeping much better after seeing a sleep specialist, thank goodness!

Oh yes! Amelia has started teething and went from 4-5 hour first stretch of sleep at night to up every 2 hours. She has settled down a bit and is back to a good first stretch but I'm still tired from her frequent nursing. She's up a lot during the early hours of morning and she's waking me up from her *nonstop* nursing. Have you tried pushing her dinner later? We are introducing food and doing a 7-8pm dinner seems to help her settle down. Also applying Orajel before bed helps. We go to bed together at about 10:30 and wake together around 9ish.
