does the itching stop

My InCourage Vest is sitting and waiting for the return slip right now, so I'm not vesting anymore. But when I did use it I had itching at the beginning. Mine was always just below my armpits and was worse when I was on certain medications (Prednisone was the worst). I wore 100% cotton tshirt when I used it. I thought maybe it was the way it fit me there that made it chaffe at my armpits.

BTW, Respirtech has been great about letting me return my Vest. I've been very impressed. (It wasn't helping me.)

Yea Hill-Rom let me return mine, and they immediately sent out a brand new one! Opposed to itching, I'd say to wear layers of clothing. I never really had a problem, except for the pressure tubes. Those itch me like crazy. Whenever I go to the hospital and do the vest, I have my settings at max. The respitory therapists look at me dumbfounded; they say that they haven't seen anyone who can handle that much pressure. But for me if I have it any lower, it doesn't feel like it works the same.

My husband and I get itchy, too, when we hold Emily on our lap during her vest time. This weekend I have a case of hives, and doing the vest with Emily was just terrible. The hives spread like wildfire all over my body while I sat with her.

Regarding the post about the Benedryl...I beleive the doctor told the MOM t o take it before pt, not the cf child. For the record, it works. I did it this morning becasue I didnt want another flare up, and the itching was much more tolerable.

I love the picture, too. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

Hey ya'll: I get itchy too. But it settles down after a bit. I figure it just goes with the territory for the vest user. It seems to encourage the itch receptors in the nose big time. I find myself itchy my whole nose. not picking, itching ( reminds me of the Sienfeld episode), but after I'm all done it quits.

Keep on vesting. It's worth it.

Try not ti itch too much , get a lotion Eucirin for itch to help settle it if your skin is extra itchy. That seems to work for dry skin which could make the itching worse.
