Does this happen to you when doing your tune ups?

Whenever I go into the hospital for my tune ups the last several plus years I get SUPER sick!!!! Sicker than before I walked into the place!!! The minute those drugs start going in me I get High fevers, throwing up, and just in general very uncomfortable like I have ants in my pants and I can not get comfortable! I also immediately get a yeast infection!!!

My doc said that it is the drugs killing off the bugs inside me like pseudomonas etc. and when that happens they release toxins in the bloodstream that can cause above problems.

Anyone else get this or what is your opinion on that explanation? I NEVER had this happen when I was a child and growing up when I was in the hospital for tune ups.

I am also EXTREMELY sensitive as an adult now to anything that goes into my body or on my skin. I even break out in red hive like things from the tape of the IV ( only wear the tape is not all over my body). I am also allergic to a ton of drugs and this time around Doc is desensitizing me and using a drug(s) that shows will work on my cultures. This starts in October.

What do ya' all think? Does this happen to you? I mean I go into the hospital one person and once I get in there and get going it is like I am 1000% more sick! Fevers etc.

Thanks

It sounds like you could be my twin sister that I've never known of!!!

I hear you loud and clear and I 100% get every symptom you get. I'm not kidding. Within 24 hours of having my port accessed, I'm on my death bed. Horrible headaches so bad that if I stand up I think my head will explode, temps of 103 degrees, throwing up, yeast infections, and just feeling blah on top of that.

It's 100% awful! They give me a chemo drug (to help with nausea and it knocks me out so sleeping is good...you don't know you feel like poop when you sleep). Reglan is the brand name but I get a generic.

They tell me there is nothing to do for it. I always lose weight when I'm on IV's because I feel so freaking bad. I'm on IV's for 3-4 wks at a time and by week 3 I start feeling like I might be able to live again but until then, it's awful.

I do my IV's at home (which I prefer to feel like crap at home). And I'm allergic to so many drugs that I can't really change them to see if I have fewer side effects with others.

Sorry there is no advice to help but you are not alone! And I seem to get worse the older I get. (30 years old).

Good luck,
Kelli

Yeast feeds on bacterial and viral die-off, so that part I can definitely confirm is true: it's because the infections are being killed. I have never been hospitalized for my CF and have never been on IV antibiotics. I have sometimes pushed hard with the alternative stuff I do and ended up with a headache and vomitted. So my experience fits with that part too: that if you are pulling a lot of crud out of your system, your body can try to dump it rapidly by vomitting and this can be preceded by a headache. I don't know the exact mechanism there but they seem related.

I have used anti nausea drugs but they seem to make me feel worse. I have used one that is shot through my IV and it makes me feel so weird. Like, my body just gets super uncomfortable. I have also tried some oral ones that either did not work, or caused a MAJOR headache ( Zofron did that). So not sure. Sounds like I am going to have to just suck it up.
