Does Hypertonic solution for you? I did a test run at my clinic today. My therapist said there was some good airway in my lungs after I did the treatment. She couldn't hear some air moving before I did the hypertonic solution. I did notice that my coughing has increased when I did this treatment.

I love my hypertonic saline. When I first started it, I coughed non stop. I mean peeing my pants, wanting to throw up non stop. Once that settled down for the night my chest felt great. It wore me out also. I did more coughing from the saline than I did my vest. It has eased up a lot. I told the doctor I wasnt going to call her about the coughing unless I had bleeding or burning sensations. At my last check up it didnt show improvement in my PFT's, but I am not worse. I feel better so I guess it is working. I go back in April so maybe the lungs will show improvement then!

I think it works for me.. It makes me cough so hard.. I can't tell if I cough more up because it is irratating my airways and making more stuff to cough up or what though..

I did have to cut back on the use of it because I can't be coughing when I am at work or school.. also doing it twice a day caused me to have chest pain because I was coughing so hard.. My stupid angina acted up.......

My CF nurse said she has heard that most people are responding better with the 7 percent.. I have not worked my way up that high yet....

We asked our doctor about it at the last local clinic appointment. We realize DS is still quite young, but were told that it's not recommended because he doesn't cough anything up; however, I've heard from several people who have never ever coughed up stuff are deriving a great benefit from it. Getting old nasty crud out. We'll just have to ask at the accredited CF clinic in the city we go to next month.

Anything that works, especially that isn't a medication! Love it. It makes me cough up so much junk.

I've been using it for about three weeks - its amazing. Its like sticking a skateboard underneath all the crap down there, and rolling it out.

I don't think the docs realize exactly how good it is, or what they've got on their hands just yet... give it a few months, and I think that as they see the responses in clinic, higher PFT's, etc. this will change.

If you haven't talked to your doctors about it yet, you really should consider it... its like pulmozyme x 1000, and there are no nasty side effects.
