I take Doxycycline for my acne but only 40mg a day for the benefit of inflammation rather than antibiotic use. I'd have to take a higher dosage for infection and I didn't want to go down that route unless I had to since I'm already on so many meds. It has helped my acne out a lot. Not sure about the lungs though b/c I have also started and stopped other meds so it's hard to tell. My insurance wouldn't cover Doryx.
