Hello again!!
Okay, question... Has anyone here been on doxycycline before for a long period of time? If so, has anyone noticed a decrese in their cough due to this antibiotic? My mom just told me about a friend at work who happens to be a doctor. His son has CF and was going through a divorce, which caused him a lot of stress and therefore he broke out with a bad case of acne. His doctor perscribed him doxycycline, which he took as follows: 100 mg 2 x a day for 30 days, and then 100 mg 1 time daily for another 30 days.
According to him, his morning cough vanished. Said that when he did his Vest in the mornings, nothing came up. Not even flem. He's been doing this for only 2 months, and he has a rather mild case of CF, but it seems to be doing wonders for him! His father says that the doxycycline shouldn't have any effect on his psudomonus (I know I spelled that one wrong), but for some reason it's working! There is no toxicity involved with this drug, either, to my knowledge.
Now, I've been on doxycyline before, but only for a short period of time. I'm seriously considering calling my doctor and asking him to put me on the same regimen to try this out for myself, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.
I'll let you guys know if it works!!
