Doxycycline?

My latest sputum culture shows that the bacteria I have my lungs is not suspectible to Levaquin (which I am on right now). He is starting me on Doxycycline for 2 weeks (100mg twice a day I think) which I haven't taken before. I am scared of starting new mades as I have had 2 allergic reactions (one to sulfa and one to Augmentin). I stopped my levaquin today-and am traveling so I am starting the Doxicycline on Friday morning (when I get home). I don't have too bad of an infection-mainly just chest congestion. I don't want to start the Doxicycline while I am away from home just in case I have an allergic reaction.

I have taken doxycycline a number of times & it seems to do the job for me with little to no side effects. It's actually one I ask for when I'm having issues.

Hopefully it will work well for you<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I have taken it a couple of times and no problems. My husband takes it every time he goes overseas, its what the military always gives out.

Do take note: doxycycline is very bad about sun exposure. Especially with summer & the July 4th weekend coming up do be careful or you will burn to a crisp!
