hey all...

I was just wondering if any of you have gone to the doc and had a culture done and PFT, because you're feeling kinda funky, and then have everything check out okay...but then felt super sick right after and probably need another culture, etc?

I just saw the doc a couple weeks ago and I had a sputum culture and PFT, he put me on some prednisone and atrovent and after a couple days, it felt like night and day. I felt so much better! Well, now I'm not so sure...I've had a couple fevers and have been coughing up some SUPER nasty stuff and think there may be more going on now. I start school back up next week and don't want to play around to see what happens. Have you ever gone to the doc to get checked out for an infection a couple weeks after you just checked out okay?

For me, sometimes it takes a while for the infection to really get bad.

I few times I have thought I was about to get sick, and then I felt a bit better so I figured it was just something that passed. And then a little bit later, I have a full-fledged infection.

So sometimes it just takes a while for the infection to really get going (maybe slow growing bacteria? idk)? So although I haven't had your exact experience, I can relate to what you're saying.

OK, totally don't know how this happened....but...We went to the Dr. on Monday. They did a throat culture on Paige, and I called back Friday to check the results. Upon their first look, Paige didn't culture anything. I was like "Whoohooo!" welllll, I got a call back an hour later, and upon a second look, lo and behold, they saw Staph. Don't ask me how it grew that quickly, but the body is just a super mysterious thing I guess.

Even growing up, with normal infections, as a normal child, I'd have the same experiences. It's not just a CF thing, it can be a normal thing for everyone. Hang in there, and go get checked out again! You don't want to risk a visit to the hospital!
