Hello

I woudl like feedback on how you like your e-flow. I am considering getting one and woudl love to hear what you have to say, I have read Amy's blog but that is about all I have heard abotu them.

Here are concerns I have:

1-I will be 1st at my clinic to use it and my doc is old fashioned and bull headed (but so am I --bullheaded that is <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> and I generally win!)

2-I am not best at cleaning cups and have read somewhere these are horrid to keep clean so I woudl have to improve I also have VERY hard water so I guess I woudl have to buy distilled?

3-if I do tobi while driving it will be about 30 min before I can wash it out how will that affect cup?

5-can you drive with this big thing in your mouth? It looks heavy and I am used to just cup & I get a sore jaw easily

thanks for the feedback!

one more thing, I have emailed CFsource for info and ordered the DVD.

Also, I think my RX insurance requires me to use certain pharmacies for my expensive meds tobi pulmozyme so there may be a glitch there, has anyone else ran into this? I think CFSource will vy to get me as my rx insurace covers my meds 100% but I am not sure

well the Pulmozyme dose doesn't change with the eFlow.... so you can continue to get the pulmozyme from whatever pharmacy your insurance requires you to get it at.

Hi Nicole...for about the six months we have had the Eflow, I would rate it average. I do love the convience of it, small and battery operated....and there is a adadpter that has a longer cord so that the mouth piece is lighter and u don't have to hold it. My son uses this all the time, so he can do computer and games while doing it.

The drawbacks to it, is I really question it's durability. We have had one die, 2-3 months after getting it. While Foundation Care was good about sending us a replacement, I still have concerns with new machine. Both seem to work awesome at first, then after a few weeks, the treatment time takes longer in them. And u have to replace the metal head every 3 months, which I am not sure how the payment on that is handled. At our clinic they are using the eflow for one of the research studies. They replace the head every month, and have also found many Eflows to stop working.

I guess to sum up, I'm really glad we have it, I could live without, but it does make things easier sometimes. To use it everyday, I think puts a toll on it, but to have as a convience machine I think is perfect.

Nicole,
We have not had to use TObi yet....As of today I think if they told me he needed to go on Tobi I would buy it from our local pharm and use the reg neb.....but still keep doing the Eflow for albuterol and pulmozyme....my thought process may change later, but I would not be comfortable with what a would consider using less concentration in the Eflow and hoping it did the job or chancing that the concentration was too much and toxic. My thought process may not be accurate, but I think with an important drug like TObi for what it is suppose to be doing there is less play with it, where if he is getting a little extra pulmozyme through the Eflow it is no big deal

I have the eflow for trial drugs. I have never used it for tobi or pulmo, so I dont know if this will help you. I LOVE it, have never had a problem with the machine whatsoever. I have been using the same machine for 14 months, one month on, one month off, so it gets a break in between. I dont know, maybe that helps. I do HATE cleaning. It is more time consuming to clean. I was also like you, getting very lax about cleaning my nebs, so when I started this, I had to be more careful. I have learned a lot from people on this website about cleaning nebs and have a tried very much harder to change my ways for my own good.

As for your question about cleaning 30 min. later...i dont know if you will run into a problem. The tobi in regular nebs is VERY sticky, so I am assuming it is with the eflow as well. You may run into a problem with this as the eflow is so delicate. I guess I would say, make sure you clean it very well, when you do clean it. If you MAKE sure you clean it well when you do...you should be ok.

Hope this helps!! Good luck with your eflow and doc!
