Thanks Amy. I've printed out the articles to show our CF doctor. I've seen the EFlow a bunch of times at workshops. I have been consistently told that I can only get the EFlow if Aidan is on Tobi or inhaled antibiotics. He has not yet been on them. Any info?

Amy- one other thing. A while ago, you psoted why IV antibiotics were the way to go with the FIRST PA culture. AIdan hasn't cultured it yet but I want to be prepared to push for IVs when he does. Would you mind when you have a chance posting what you know about it? I asked Warwick when we saw him but he does not do IVs for first PA culture? Any ideas why not? Thanks so much!

I've heard the same thing as Megan. My main neb is albuterol, mucomyst, and cromolyn sodium - which takes about a half hour to do. My second one is an anitbotic (Amikacin) but it only takes 5 minutes, so I'm not too worried about that one. It would be nice to be able to do the first one in 10 minutes...

I guess my wanting the e-flow is more for travel convience than time (I do my vest with the first neb, so I have to sit for a half hour anyway). I travel a lot back and forth (car and plane), and would love to be able to take this to a park or something to do instead of sitting in my car with the Trek for half an hour, or worrying about having a battery/electrical supply. --which I guess would support the compliance issue...

there's no reason that you have to have an antibiotic to use the eFlow. TOBI tends to take more time than pulmozyme or albuterol so from that angle, it's probably the most useful for those patients in terms of time.

but one thing people seem to forget is that the eFlow isn't just about time.... it's about a larger quantity of respirable doses getting deeper into the lungs.

so getting pulmozyme or albuterol or HTS deeper into the lungs at a higher quantity is beneficial. of course you can include TOBI in this as well.

so bottomline - i have no clue why you would be told that.

No ideas why not. But Warwick seems like the type of guy that would spend 30 minutes explaining to you why he thinks what he thinks. Pick his brain. Challenge him. He lives for that.
