Embarrassed at school

Hi everyone! It's Katie again having to use my moms login:-(. Anyways, just wanted to share what happened to Makailyn in music class today that made me sad. The music teacher had them all sing something individually and when it was Makailyn's turn, she couldn't sing good because the mucus was so thick she had a hard time clearing her throat. She said all the kids laughed at her and she was soooo embarrassed! And she was upset the teacher didn't get them in trouble, just told them to quit laughing. It broke my heart. I know kids can be mean but it just really sucks. Should I maybe email the music teacher and ask her not to make her sing by herself? Awww my poor baby. I hate she has to deal with all this. Anyways, other than that it has started off being a great year. I'm so proud of her!

Awe. Poor girl! That is terrible! I hope the kids start treating her better and she has a good year with many friends. Mine is only 4, so I have no experience with this but can't imagine how bad I would feel for her to have to deal with that.

I would absolutely talk to the music teacher. Maybe have your daughter decide if she feels like singing solo on any given day. She is the only one who knows how she feels that day. If she is froggy from the mucus that day she can decline ahead of time with the teacher so that it is not pointed out during classtime. On the days she feels like she can do it she then could be allowed to. Singing solo in front of everyone is stressful enough without wondering if your gonna sound froggy.
