End of Home IV's

Just finished my two week course of home iv's and a bit disappointed that my FEV1 has stayed at 53%. it was only really a tune up before my hols so the hospital weren't concerned but i thought they might have gone up a bit.
On the plus side i do feel better, less tired and less stressed after two weeks off work definitely not looking forward to going back tomorrow.

I have had haemoptysis in the past and am a bit worried in case it happens on holiday which is why i had the iv's in the first place to make sure no infection was lurking. I have been told to make sure i keep well hydrated (i sound like a plant LOL!!). Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Also if it does happen (hopefully it won't fingers toes and everything crossed) when should i worry and when should i ignore it and see if it heals itself?

I've had that happen before too....went in for a tune-up and got no improvement in PFT's. I RARELY ever went in for just a tune-up though. I just never thought it was worth the chance of picking something up in the hospital or becoming resistant to antibiotics for a tune-up. I usually waited till I was actually sick and that's when I would see improvements in my PFT's.
As far as coughing up blood, I've done that a lot in the past and never had to get an embolism or go to the hospital for it. Usually I just took some Vitamin K to help it clot. I've coughed up several TBS or more and it seemed to heal itself. I always see some streaks afterwards for a day or 2 and then it clears up. I'm always sore afterwards too. It's a scary thing and I have a hard time catching my breath when it happens b/c of all the gurgling and need to cough it up. I think different doctors have different opinions on how much is considered too much.
As far as hydration, my doctor says to drink lots of Gatorade. It's got lots of electrolites and works better than just plain water.
Hope you make it through the holiday with so problems. I know I have spent a few holidays myself in the hospital.....not fun!
