Ha, Risa, wish I could practice that thought more!!! "Love", that's the way Amy is, she speaks off top of her head sometimes, or should I say fingers. Don't be afraid, there are plenty who will talk to you and respond courteously. <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

@Amy:
How do you think "Placebo pills" work? They do because some people are believing in them and heal themselves...

Foody, you forgot "The Force", as in Star Wars "May the Force be with You"!

Japan uses a lot of methods from China, cause, duh...Japan is also a part of the Far East, as far as you can frickin' go before you hit nothing but water!

I'm constantly bombarded by the "mystical" ways of healing here. BTW, the foot massage is where pressure points, or "Tsubo" in Japanese, is stimulated. The Chinise have this down so well to a science, they have a map of the foot which connects to the internal organ for those points!
Japan has a few other methods of "Energy Transfer", one is called "Shiatsu". An advantage to Shiatsu over Acupuncture is...no needles!!
Oh, yea, a warning about acupuncture...if you don't get a well respected acupuncture doctor, you might actually go home with a punctured lung...saw that on the news here, and a discomfortable thing to have happen.

However, after talking with my sister last night on chat, she seems to be stressing with having the life energy sucked out of her at work...I may suggest she try some of these methods, and to encourage her more, I may do the same! Sometimes dealing with the MIL takes a lot out of me, despite my learning to adjust. Just gotta figure out which one of those energy techniques fits a busy schedule...

Hey, do they have "Yoga for Busy People"?! Or, "Five second Acupuncture"? Because they got a book "Japanese for Busy People", was wondering.

I think anything that relaxes the body along with breathing, it wonderful.

From experience, paying attention to the way you breathe is the best energy medicine of all. We can do all sorts of acupuncture, acupressure, yoga, crossing this or that way but if we do not pay attention to the breathing, everything will not work as effectively.

I am talking about Tai chi or Qigong breathing. Almost like your breathing in sync with the waves of the ocean.

Extremely calming
