enzyme/disgestion

Hi Everyone-

I wanted your thoughts on this. Here's a little background on my digestive history-I've been given enzymes since I was 2. Up until 4 months ago I've always taken 3 with meals and snacks. I have never had weight issues. I am 5'3 and weigh 130 lbs right now-more than I want to. I have acid reflux and have been on acid meds for 10 years at least.

A few years ago I started to have occasional bloating-no diarrhea, just bloating. It finally got to the point where my cf doc sent me to a gi specialist just to check things out, have an endoscopy and colonoscopy. He found some oil build up in my colon, and he upped my enzymes to 4 with meals and snacks.

The bloating hasn't gotten any better. Everytime I eat I feel so icky full-and get SO distended. I also think that the extra enzymes are making me gain weight.

I don't touch sugary or fatty foods, I eat reasonable portions. I'm not lying!-I can't figure out why gained weight, and why no matter what I seem to eat I can't lose a pound. (I exercise too-more for my health, but you'd think it would make a difference) But this summer I put on 7 pounds-and in me, its all in my face and tummy.

Now, if I get pregnant, of course I don't really care about the weight-but I want to be a healthy weight meaning-I don't want to gain too much! But I'm more concerned about feeling so distended and uncomfortable all the time. I started wearing sweats everywhere b/c they fit better. ew. I try to explain this to my doc, they don't seem to care if you are an overweight cfer! But I have never in my life had the typical cf weight issues.

PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!

HI there. Female with CF and CFRD. I am 38 yrs young, diagnosed at the age of 3yrs with CF, diagnosed 3 months ago with CFRD. GOOD LUCK on the bloating thing. I have had that problem since well.....I can't remember, it's been that long. I told my CF docs about it and my family doc and family doc can't say much, but the CF docs don't know why this is happening. I can be sooooooooo bloated that I look like I'm about 9 months pregnant. I am always 24/7 bloated never goes away. I stopped eating certain foods and nothing seemed to work. So if your CF docs can figure out why all the bloating....PLS let me know. There are lots of other ppl on here that have the constant bloating thing to so NO you are not alone. Good Luck!!!

ender,

Why do you say that about my liver and kidney function? Just wondering what the connection there is-sounds interesting. I haven't had them checked in a while. The only thing I can recall of my liver is the last time I was on iv Tobra I had to cut my dosage way down b/c my ears were ringing badly. But that's all I can remember-I don't think I've ever had liver issues.
My kidneys-the only thing was I had a kidney stone a few months ago, that they found randomly on a cat scan while checking my lungs. (I passed it with a kidney cleanse.)

Does Dr. Walker know about the problems? I find it hard to believe she hasnt checked the liver/kidneys etc if that is a possible cause. Dont make me tell on you, Christian! Hope you find a solution!
