My daughters MRSA was eradicated 3 years ago and her health declined greatly with regards to plummeting PFTs in 70s to 28. My daughter had MRSA and Pseudomonas. Now (and past 3 years) only Pseudomonas. I started doing alot of research after eradication of MRSA and actually found articles that it was good to have MRSA if you have PA because the MRSA keeps the PA at bay or "in check" and PA is deadlier than MRSA in CF patients.

MRSA is very deadly to people with CF or other compromising diseases if not properly treated. It is also potentially dangerous for very young and old people who are otherwise healthy.

My daughter has just completed several oral antibiotics and then an IV Vancomycin protocol to get rid of MRSA. She was negative with the throat culture following the Vanc. We test again in May. I did not ask to get rid of regular staph because of its protective qualities against PA, but MRSA has been shown to be a detriment. She is 14.
