ESBL E. Coli

Has anyone ever cultured this in the lungs? It is supposed to be along the lines of ORSA and MRSA as far as resistances. But E. Coli in the lungs, this is really throwing me off, and Samantha just cultured it.

I have not heard of it before, but here are some possibly useful links about it:

My son has cultured it since he got an e-coli blood infection from the hospital in Dec 2006.
I too wonder about it and am waiting for the cf coordinator to contact me to discuses my concerns. If she does not get back to me by mid next week I will call her again.
They say that since my son has no symptoms that they are not going to treat it, since treating it could potentially cause more harm. (You would think that leaving be would cause more harm, not the other way around)
When I asked how common culturing e-coli is I was told was that it is on some list of possible bacteria to culture. My question was never answered to my satisfaction.
Hopefully I will speak with the clinic coordinator next week; maybe I can get some of my questions answered.
I probably haven't helped but at least you know there is someone else out there that is going though the same thing. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
If I do get any clear answers or any other information I will post.

Good Luck
Carey
