Excersize Regimine???

I am just curious, what is everyones excersize regimine (I know I can't spell) What exactly do you do for excersize? I ask because I feel like I can't excersize very well or much at all. Every time I try to excersize my lungs hurt so much and I can't really do anything. I try to walk a mile on the tred mill and do a slow mile on the bike. This usually takes me about 40 minutes but afterwards I feel like I want to die.

I feel like I should be doing more especially since I used to be an athlete and I was so active. I'm just curious is all.
thanks... xoxo

i'm trying to get back into exercise myself and kept getting so frustrated because i couldn't do hardly anything without getting short of breath, etc. i used to be an athlete as well all through the years until the end of highschool when i messed up my shoulders and had to stop swimming year round.... i'm so out of shape now. anyway, i just had to start slow and work my way up (which i'm still doing at a super slow pace b/c i keep getting lazy oops!) but i wouldn't be so hard on yourself to start with. maybe do a 1/4 or 1/3 mile for a few days plus like, 5 mins on the bike. do that for a couple days then bump up the time and distance increments until you build up your stamina in your body and lungs. i have a good friend who always makes his goals MAC= Measurable, Attainable, Clear. start small so you can meet them realistically. my problem is i always set my exercise goals based on what i know i used to be able to do and don't take into account what i can realistically do at this moment with my current lung function, out of shape body, etc.

i don't belong to a gym and don't have the money for one right now so i use the public parks in my area for their trails or i walk/attempt to run some on my street.

good luck!

I exercise once a week or every day if I'm not busy. I run 2 miles on the treadmill and 2-3 miles on the eliptical. The eliptical kind of runs for you, so you might consider trying that. I go to the gym with a buddy, and I truly believe running is mainly psychological. When you have someone there running their butt off, you want to be like them, and not look weak, so when she's there I always can run further because I don't tell myself that I"m tired.

For days my lungs hurt, I do Wii Fit, it gives you a light work out without killing you, and you can do all different types of things. I've also done Yoga (both on wii fit and in classes), which helps a lot with deep breathing and stretching out your back and rib cage.

I go to the gym 3 days a week and work with a personal trainer who has given me some good pointers for how to increase my lung function and open up my chest. That for me has been way more beneficial than just the cardio (treadmill and bike) alone. The trick is to make sure you're not hunching your shoulders. I'll try to take some pictures of what I do the next time I'm at the gym so that people have a better idea of what I'm talking about.

If your lungs ache when you're exercising, you might not be breathing correctly, or you might not be doing effective airway clearance.
