Exercise Section

There is an exercise section at this site, and I think it's a really great idea, but I don't think it's at its full potential. Just wondering what any of you think it could incporporate to help you with your exercise routines.

Right now it focuses on Team Boomer, which is awesome but I think there is a large opportunity missed by not developing something more, something that we all can actually USE to better our daily exercise efforts. After all, we need to exercise and it can get tough to maintain that routine all the time. What a perfect place, if it were designed right, to actually help us do what we need to do and inspire us to keep it up.

Would it help if it was more of a place where you login and post 1x/week (an offical calendar of some kind or member's charts) in order to be accountable and everyone sees it and gets inpspired from it (like attending a cyberspace gym), or if there was a person respondiong and interacting with your questions and feedback on a continual basis? Or are there any other creative approaches you can think of or have seen elsewhere to make a collaborative and successful Exercise section on this site?

I think the opportunities are wide open here, so I'd love to brainstorm with your ideas.

I would love to see a more involved gropu over on teh excercise section. I have tried posting there but it seems a bit too 'slow' to be useful right now (hence the max HR being posted in adult section right now is doing great so there is definately an interest in this sort of thing I just dont think eveyroen gets over there). I dont have a great idea on how to organize.

Anyway, as far as your suggestions for a cyber gym... its funny cause my girlfriends and I have set up a yahoo group for tracking our fitness. We post our name, what we did, and whether its an increase or decrease. It really helps us motivate each other and we then know who isn't working out, so it also adds to wanting to be able to show every that you're working hard. I know I'm motivated when my buddies put that they've done a 5K and I know I've motivated them when I've worked out even with a headcold (they've actually TOLD me so, which motivated me even more!)

... So, I would like to be able to do something like this with other CFers too (it would probably be even MORE motivating to see what everyone does even on their worst days when we just get up and DO IT!) I think it would be a GREAT idea! However, I'm not too keen on the idea of posting it for all of cyberspace to see what I'm doing and when. Perhaps if it could be a "members only" place (my yahoo group is by invitation only) it may work better. Honestly Kelly, I think people just stick with the Adults section no matter how many sub-categories are created.

Sure there are some that use the sub-categories, but nothing as much as the Adults section.
