Failed IUIs, moving on to IVF

I was just hoping to see whether anybody else has been in the same situation as me. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 years now. We just finished our 6th round of IUI (combined with Clomid). All 6 failed. We are now in the process of moving onto IVF. We have our mandatory info session this week and then are meeting with the fertility specialist to go on the wait list next week.
Has anybody else had multiple failed IUIs and then gone on to have a successful IVF?
Thanks!

Hi there Megs, I do not have experience with this, but there is a site called CFmothers.com that has a lot of CFers going through similar situations. They are targeted towards women that are ttc, pregnant, already have children, going to adoption ect. Its a very new forum so things can be a bit slow, but everyone there is extremely helpful. This is a wonderful site ( so please dont think im putting it down because I truly believe there is a ton of great people and an abundance of info on here), But this section can move slow too and I think you might have a quicker response over there if you are interested.

Thanks for the luck! I'm actually up in Canada. However, fertility treatments are not covered by the public healthcare. I think it's technically private...? Not sure...
But for IUI, there was actually no waitlist at the clinic that I went to, but there is about a 4-6 month wait for IVF (plus the 2 months or so it takes you to go through the whole process).
Goodluck!! If you want somebody to talk to about the whole process, feel free to send me a message. I know how stressful and frustrating it can be at times. And I'm always looking for new friends too. :)

hey megs, It took my husband and I four years to conceive with multiple Clomid only rounds then four rounds of failed IUI with Clomid (including one 30 mile trip in a blinding snow storm for IUI that we sure was going to work!!) Alas no luck...I was due to have four more rounds of IUI with injectables but I graduated to IVF when I over stimulated....that first IVF was actually a terrible experience because none of my eggs fertilized, was very heart breaking...but we graduated once again to ICSI....and were utimately successful. We have been blessed with twin boys who are now 7. This all happened before I was diagnosed with CF and always wondered if my respiratory history interfered with getting pregnant (dx'd with bronchiectasis at the time and also cultured pseudomonas when I got pregnant...great timing!) Anyway, I can definately relate to the emotional ups and downs of the process and the waiting...and the shots....and the hormones...and the uncertainty...and finally the joy of success and finding out we were having twins....and then the worry of managing a twin pregnancy.... thankfully I had no problems and went to term. One thing I strongly advise is to really think about how many embryos you are willing to transfer. Our doctor suggested four (based on a specific clinic formula),...my husband had a brief moment of weakness when he thought four sounded like a great idea...but we went with two and were lucky that both implanted. I do know women who transfered four or more embryos and were successful with a single pregnancy, but often that was after multiple failed IVFs first. I also know women who had triplets and quadruplets. I did well with a twin pregnancy but I don't think my body could have managed much more.... I wish you the best in taking the next step, stay hopeful and please feel free to message me if you need to chat...take care...

Hi! I'm actually on the other end of the CF infertility. My husband has CF, so our only option for a biologically compatible child is through IVF. I had my embryo transfer on Wednesday, so we are in the two week wait. I can't help with experience on the IUI part, but if you have any questions about the IVF, please feel free to ask!
